Moroccan airports abolish double checks

The National Airports Office (ONDA) announced the cancellation of the double-check procedure at international travelers' departure and arrival, wherein they were required to present their passports again after being stamped on entry. It is a new step to facilitate the transit of passengers through the Kingdom's airports.

The ministry, in a communiqué, said that "this decision entered into force last week at the Mohammed V Airport of Casablanca. This is achievable as a result of the placing of automatic doors which render the control quicker and safer." It went on to say that "this measure comes following close work between the General Directorate of National Security, the Directorate of Immigration and Border Control at the Ministry of the Interior, and the ONDA."

The statement went on to say that "because of this upgrade, passengers can now travel more efficiently through border crossings, reducing waiting times and improving the traveling experience. This measure will be applied gradually in order to extend to all the airports in the Kingdom within the period required to equip each airport with this new system prior to the summer season."

The source recalled that "the National Airports Office's primary objective remains to reconcile efficiency and security, by adopting state-of-the-art technological solutions to remain ahead of the continued growth in international air traffic, while guaranteeing maximum border control," highlighting that "the 'Airports 2030' strategy is progressing steadily towards achieving its goals."
